🌍 Plastic for Health: A global partnership for people and planet

The World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) and Plastic Bank have joined forces to launch Plastic for Health — a first-of-its-kind partnership tackling two urgent global challenges: plastic pollution and access to healthcare.

Together, WHIS and Plastic Bank are transforming every dollar of corporate support into tangible, traceable outcomes: cleaner environments and healthier communities.

♻️ How It Works

It’s simple, powerful, and measurable:
$X = Y kg of plastic recovered + Z health services delivered

Each contribution supports Plastic Bank’s collection ecosystems in underserved coastal areas, while simultaneously funding local health and wellbeing programmes led by WHIS.

Corporations can now partner with us to achieve their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives through a transparent and scalable model—delivering verified outcomes for both people and planet.

Our Programs

This partnership spans interconnected programs that offer immediate and long-term value for communities, sponsors, and the planet:

  • Plastic for Health – Turn contributions into recovered plastic and accessible healthcare.
  • Industry with Purpose – ESG-compliant pilot projects for biotech and pharma aligned with biodiversity and the Cali Fund.
  • Circular Health Innovation Centres – Local centres where plastic becomes a currency for health and education.
  • Cali Fund Flagship – A ready-to-deploy model combining health, circularity, and biodiversity outcomes.
  • Plastic & Health Literacy Campaigns – Education delivered in schools, clinics, and communities.
  • Heal the Planet Giving Campaign – Mobilise individual contributions from health professionals and employees.
  • WHIS Plastic Innovation Fund – Support startups addressing plastic and public health together. (Launching Qtr 4 2025)
  • Global Advocacy Events – Frame plastic pollution as a public health issue on global stages.
  • Events with Impact – Offset attendee plastic footprints at WHIS events with real-time impact tracking and personalised certificates.

Verified ESG Impact

At the heart of this partnership is transparency and traceable action.

WHIS and Plastic Bank provide jointly branded digital impact summaries that clearly document:

  • The volume of plastic gathered
  • Health outcomes supported
  • Contribution toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

These blockchain-powered summaries can be used in ESG dashboards, annual sustainability reports, and stakeholder communications to showcase your organisation’s contribution to environmental and social impact.

While not formal certificates under EU Directive definitions, these verified summaries offer partners credible, data-backed insights into the real-world results their support delivers.

Why This Matters

Plastic pollution is more than an environmental issue—it’s a health crisis.

From toxic exposure in food chains to the burden on underserved communities, its effects are far-reaching. Plastic for Health reframes discarded plastic as a pathway to opportunity:

  • Opportunity for collection members to earn secure income and access social benefits
  • Opportunity for families to receive healthcare, clean water, and mental health support
  • Opportunity for businesses and governments to contribute directly to measurable SDG progress

Get Involved

Whether you're a global brand, health professional, innovator, or individual, there’s a role to play.

  • Corporate partners – Fund verified impact, offset your plastic footprint, and deliver on ESG goals
  • Pharma and biotech leaders – Join pilot programmes aligned with Cali Fund and biodiversity goals
  • Donors and employees – Support with individual contributions or workplace giving
  • Startups and innovators – Apply for funding via the WHIS Plastic Innovation Fund (Launching in Qtr 4 2025)

Every contribution counts. Every dollar creates change. Every partnership supports a regenerative economy.

Stories from the Ground

Behind every kilogram of gathered plastic and every health service delivered is a human story.

Our gallery highlights the people powering this movement: plastic collectors, educators, health workers, families, and innovators. Their stories reveal what’s possible when purpose and action meet.
