A new AI model developed by researchers at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the German Cancer Consortium has achieved something remarkable: the ability to detect more than 170 types of cancer, with 97.8% accuracy, by analysing epigenetic markers. In one case, a patient with a hard-to-reach brain tumour avoided surgery thanks to this model. A fluid sample (CSF) was analysed instead, and the AI correctly identified the cancer type—allowing for immediate treatment.
