Independence Day is often a time for reflection. For me, it is a moment to look at the intersection of my work as an infrastructure architect and the global mission of the World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) and the Global Social Prescribing Alliance.
My career has been defined by the pursuit of connecting worlds the grassroots level where health actually happens, and the statutory systems that govern our response. From serving on the Vatican COVID-19 Commission to advising Mark Ritchie and the U.S. World’s Fairs (EXPO) Bid Consortium, the goal has remained consistent: integration.
I am often asked why I invest so much time into the WHIS/GSPA/EXPO movements. The answer is simple: the scale. To reach the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we need platforms that can command global attention and drive multi-stakeholder participation. Whether it was the “Healthy Planet, Healthy People” bid for USA EXPO 2027 or our upcoming strategic focus for 2031 in Minnesota, the logic is the same: use global platforms to solve local health challenges.
On this day of independence, I am reminded that our own health and the health of our communities are inextricably linked to the strength of the systems we build together. I am incredibly proud of the progress we have made, and I am excited for the road ahead.
