- Staffing - shortage of 10m by 2030 (6m in Africa alone)
- Contaminants of emerging concern
- Climate Change - migration (Over 1bn displaced) - clean water - Every year, environmental factors take the lives of around 13 million people.
- Ageing populations - By 2050, one in four people in Asia and the Pacific will be over 60 years old (1.3bn)
- Rising NCDs - cancers will cost the world economy INT $25.2 trillion (ref: JAMA - )
- Safety standards - more than 3 million deaths occur annually due to unsafe care (ref: WHO )
- Capacity building - many countries are facing shortages of common drugs—from antibiotics to stroke treatments (ref: Lancet)
- ill health and economic growth - The overall costs of mental ill health equate to double the NHS’s entire budget in England in 2022 (£153bn) (ref: centre for for mental health)
- AMR - The World Bank estimates that AMR could result in US$ 1 trillion additional healthcare costs by 2050, and US$ 1 trillion to US$ 3.4 trillion gross domestic product (GDP) losses per year by 2030.
- Misinformation and digital health adoption - Health misinformation poses a severe public health risk, leading to false conspiracy beliefs, vaccine hesitancy, treatment delays, and risking human life and wellbeing.
