Global Commitment to Nutrition and Health

The N4G Summit 2025 has mobilized 403 new commitments from 127 commitment-makers across 66 countries, representing a global coalition of governments (44%), civil society (27%), multilateral bodies (9%), private sector (7%), donors (7%), and academia (5%). These commitments span all six N4G thematic areas:

  • Nutrition in health and social protection
  • Sustainable food systems & climate resilience
  • Crisis response
  • Gender equality
  • Financing & accountability
  • Data, AI, research & innovation

Key Impact Areas

Undernutrition & NCDs: Targets include reducing stunting (72%), wasting (68%), anaemia in women (57%), overweight in children (50%), and halting the rise in adult obesity (42%) and diabetes (35%).

Funding: Over US$25.7 billion pledged, including:

  • Governments: US$2.7B
  • Donors: US$5.2B
  • Development Finance Institutions: US$14.5B

Commitment Types: 87% political (policy, strategy, or impact-focused); 13% financial.

Equity Lens: Up to 100% of some commitments target vulnerable groups.

Healthcare Integration Highlights

Nutrition is being embedded into health systems globally:

  • 75% of all commitments link nutrition to healthcare and social protection.
  • Focus areas include maternal and child health, emergency preparedness, and nutrition-sensitive services.
  • Countries aim to tackle both undernutrition and diet-related NCDs (e.g., obesity, high blood pressure).
  • Investments are being made in AI-powered surveillance systems, data platforms, and real-time monitoring tools.
  • Capacity building includes training for healthcare workers, nutritionists, and agricultural staff.
  • Governments are increasing budgetary tracking and governance for nutrition financing.

  • Bangladesh: Launching a national nutrition data system; scaling emergency and gender-sensitive programs.
  • Benin: Promoting fortified school meals, exclusive breastfeeding, and safe water access in schools.
  • Botswana: Addressing obesity and micronutrient deficiencies; expanding nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
  • Brazil: Supporting South-South cooperation through school feeding and human milk banks.
  • Burkina Faso: Scaling food fortification, community health clubs, and nutrition budget increases. The N4G Summit 2025 showcases a united global movement to strengthen the intersection of nutrition, health, and development. Through targeted investments, innovation, and inclusive policy, countries are accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 2 & 3) — ensuring healthier lives for all.
