Green Social Prescribing Nature as Infrastructure for Health

4 May 2026

What if parks, forests, and gardens were treated as part of the healthcare system?

Through the Global Social Prescribing Alliance, green social prescribing is being scaled as a powerful, evidence-based intervention connecting people to nature to improve both mental and physical wellbeing.

Community gardening, forest bathing, and guided nature walks are not just activities. They are preventative health solutions that reduce stress, improve mood, and foster social connection.

GSPA is working globally to:

  • Embed green prescribing into national health strategies
  • Build partnerships between healthcare providers and environmental organisations
  • Mobilise investment into nature-based health infrastructure

This is part of a broader vision: prevention as an investable asset class, where nature becomes a scalable, fundable solution for global health challenges.

At the July 2026 Summit, green prescribing will be positioned not as an optional add-on but as essential infrastructure for healthier societies.
