Prescribing a Life, Not Just Medicine: Join Our September GSPA Special Interest Groups Meeting
At the Global Social Prescribing Alliance (GSPA), our driving mission remains clear: to build a healthier, more connected world by prescribing a life, not just medicine. True health isn’t found solely in a clinic or a prescription bottle. It is built in communities, nurtured through human connection, and unlocked through purpose.
This September, we are gathering once again to turn this vision into a coordinated global movement. Whether you are a long-time member or discovering social prescribing for the first time, your voice is needed.

🎙️ Featured Speaker Spotlight: Jayeeta Poddar Choudhury
We are absolutely thrilled to introduce our featured speaker for this session, Jayeeta Poddar Choudhury, joining us from Kolkata, India. Jayeeta’s life’s work is a masterclass in how non-clinical, creative interventions can radically transform public health, mental wellbeing, and local economies.
Jayeeta is a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) alumnus, handicraft designer, master artisan, and the visionary founder of **Purple Karigar **a social enterprise that beautifully bridges the gap between traditional craftsmanship and health restoration.
Through her presentation, Jayeeta will share how she uses “slow art” and hand needlework as a powerful form of cognitive therapy. Her initiatives focus deeply on:
- Mental Well-Being: Deploying structured needle-art programs as non-clinical therapeutic models.
- Inclusion & Dignity: Training and providing financial independence to vulnerable, rescued, and differently-abled individuals (including speech- and hearing-impaired artisans).
- Sustainability: Reducing textile waste by upcycling materials into eco-conscious lifestyle products and corporate gifts. Having recently won the Startup Brilliance Award 2026, Jayeeta’s work is a shining blueprint for social prescribing in action on an international scale.
