We are thrilled to announce that David Kerr has been appointed as the voluntary Chair of WHIS Ireland, the official Volunteer Chapter of the World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) and the Global Social Prescribing Alliance (GSPA).
David brings a wealth of experience leading across industries and geographies, with a focus on digital transformation, sustainability, and creating measurable impact. As founder of DJK Global, he helps organisations turn sustainability from obligation into advantage, shaping how technology is deployed, capability is built, and confidence is established with stakeholders. His expertise in bridging intention and measurable outcomes will be invaluable to WHIS Ireland’s mission to empower communities.
Gareth Presch, CEO of WHIS and GSPA, said: “We’re excited to see Ireland take a leading role in community-driven health initiatives. Under David’s leadership, WHIS Ireland will connect local efforts with a global network of chapters, creating meaningful impact at a time when health services are under immense pressure.”
Gareth shares a personal connection to this mission: originally from Dublin and formerly the Chief Officer of the National Haemophilia Council, he is deeply committed to strengthening community wellbeing. “I’m so excited to see Ireland take a leading role in empowering communities to manage their own health and wellbeing, especially at a time when the HSE and health services are under so much pressure,” he said.
The WHIS Chapter in Ireland is entirely volunteer-led, focusing on:
- Community Wellbeing Projects – initiatives to improve mental health, reduce isolation, and promote healthy lifestyles.
- Youth & Student Engagement – supporting students and young leaders to develop leadership and project management skills.
- Social Prescribing Support – connecting people with local health and community resources.
- Awareness & Advocacy – raising awareness of holistic health through workshops, events, and campaigns. The chapter is guided by WHIS/GSPA values of honesty, integrity, inclusivity, and respect. It aims to create safe, accessible, and stigma-free spaces where communities can thrive.
We are proud to welcome David in this voluntary leadership role and look forward to seeing Ireland set a global example in community-driven health innovation.
