WHIS Priorities for the next 5 years

2 February 2024

As health systems around the world struggle to cope with the pressures building we’ve come up with our priorities for the next 5 years as we believe we can help governments and investors build healthier populations that will deliver economic growth 🌎🌏🌍

MOVING FROM SICK CARE TO HEALTHCARE

1️⃣ Investing in health to create value

We need to value the role good health plays in our society and put it at the heart of policy decisions and look to build public and private partnerships to support blended finance opportunities that support action.

That why we’ve created our funding vehicle World Health Service a fiscal sponsored program to enable governments and investors make long term investments that will address inequalities while also making healthy returns.

2️⃣ By investing to improve people’s health and wellbeing we will tackle inequalities at an early stage - from Sick Care to Healthcare

Record numbers of people are out of the work due to ill health, while the number of people in work who report work limiting health conditions is rising. It is possible to improve people’s health and reduce inequalities if action is taken, including tackling the big risk factors that shape health outcomes by investing in new models of healthcare (World Health Innovation Summit CIC have a proven model that improves people’s health and wellbeing, reduces costs, strengthens health systems while creating new and meaningful jobs - we need to scale this model).

3️⃣ Strengthening capacity and resilience

The health system is in crisis with many people unable to access the care they need and waiting lists are af record levels. The opportunity for policy change to provide long-term investment in prevention through new programs (WHISKids - children’s mental health) will lead to an increase productivity and quality of life.

By alining with climate transition we can also address the human health factors or air pollution and clean energy at the same time.

4️⃣ Transforming care through innovation, technology

To meet the needs of a growing, ageing population, we need innovation that brings improvement. The opportunity to harness the potential of intellectual capital and technology to improve quality of care by focusing on prevention and delivering more care in our communities is now.

5️⃣ Investment to inspire new models of healthcare

Governments and the private sector have the opportunity to create new models of healthcare backed by investment models that support people who need it.

Blended capital with partnerships - we’re working with Orora and will host our fist investor roundtable this month Cooley LLP
