WHISTech: The Tech That Could Change Health for 8 Billion People

Five emerging technologies. Six transformative programmes. One global platform — built to give people the tools to manage their own health and wellbeing.

The WHIS Decision Test

“When making decisions about new projects, solutions, services, strategies or models, we always ask: Is it in the best interest of society as a whole?”

WHIS Values · IP owned by WHIS CIC · Data never sold · Accessible to all

We are living through the most significant convergence of technology and human health in history. Artificial intelligence is detecting cancer before symptoms appear. Wearables are measuring stress in real time. Gene editing is rewriting the code of inherited disease. And for the first time, it is genuinely possible to imagine a world where every person regardless of where they were born or how much they earn has access to personalised, proactive health tools that help them live better, longer lives. That is the WHISTech mission.

More Than an App. A Global Health Movement.

WHISTech is not a product. It is a philosophy made digital. As the technology and AI pillar of the World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) a registered Community Interest Company — WHISTech exists to bridge the chasm between extraordinary technological capability and the billions of people who currently have no meaningful access to personalised health tools.

The WHIS ecosystem spans six interconnected programmes — WHISKids, WHISatWork, WHISSeniors, WHISGreen, WHISTech, and the Global Social Prescribing Alliance (GSPA) — each addressing a distinct and critical dimension of human health and wellbeing. WHISTech is the connective tissue that links them all, providing the digital infrastructure, AI capabilities, and data governance frameworks that allow innovation to be deployed safely, equitably, and in the genuine interest of the communities it serves.

WHIS CIC retains full ownership of all WHISTech platform IP. People’s data is never sold, never monetised, never used for advertising — this is a legal commitment embedded in the CIC structure, not a policy preference. The platform is built for all, owned by none other than the community interest it serves.

“We are building WHISTech because we believe that technology, at its best, is an act of justice. When a child in rural Kenya gets the same quality of mental health support as a child in London because an AI-powered tool on a smartphone can screen, flag, and connect them to help that is not just innovation. That is equity in action. Our mission is nothing less than giving every single person on this planet the tools to understand, protect, and improve their own health. Not as an aspiration. As a commitment.”

— Gareth Presch, CEO, World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) & CEO, Global Social Prescribing Alliance (GSPA)

Five Technologies Redefining What’s Possible

The WHISTech platform is built on five emerging technologies, each selected for their capacity to deliver measurable health improvement across all populations — and each governed by internationally recognised ISO standards that ensure safety, privacy, and interoperability at scale. Critically, each technology is assessed not only for its health impact, but for its alignment to WHIS values: human dignity, data protection, community benefit, and universal accessibility.

**1. Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning **AI diagnostic systems now match or exceed specialist accuracy in reading medical imaging, identifying mental health risk in children, predicting workforce burnout, and matching individuals to community resources. AI is the force multiplier that makes personalised care possible at population scale always augmenting human judgement, never replacing it. Every AI model is audited for bias before deployment. Every AI decision is explainable in plain language to the person it affects.

**2. Wearable Health Monitoring **Next-generation wearables continuously track ECG, glucose, cortisol, sleep, and gait putting real-time physiological insight in the hands of individuals, families, and care teams. Wearable data is owned by the individual. Users can view, download, and delete all data held about them at any time. Hardware subsidy models ensure access is not limited to those who can afford premium devices.

**3. Gene Editing & Genomics **CRISPR-based therapies and genomic screening are moving from lab to clinic. WHISTech will use genomic data to personalise care pathways, reduce adverse drug reactions in older adults, and screen children for inherited conditions. Genomic data is treated with the highest level of protection in the platform stored separately, accessed only by directly involved clinical teams, and never used for research without specific informed consent.

**4. Digital Twins **Virtual patient models built from genomic, physiological, and environmental data allow clinicians to test interventions before applying them in the real world. Community-level twins model the health impact of urban planning and social prescribing pathways. Communities have the right to participate in how their twin is built and how it is used decisions are made with communities, not about them.

**5. Robotic-Assisted Care **Care companions, surgical robots, and therapeutic tools extend specialist capability to underserved communities and support independent living for millions of older adults. Robots are always offered alongside human care, never instead of it. Individuals retain the right to decline robotic assistance at any time. Therapeutic robots for children are co-designed with child development specialists, parents, and the children themselves.

Six Programmes, One Shared Vision

**WHISKids — Mental Health From the Start **Mental health conditions affecting children and young people are one of the most under-addressed crises in global health. WHISTech will bring AI-powered early screening, gamified wellbeing tools, and privacy-first digital platforms to children worldwide — catching problems early, when intervention is most powerful and most cost-effective. Every child is valued. Joy is built into every tool we design for them.

**WHISatWork — From Surviving to Thriving **The global cost of poor workplace mental health exceeds one trillion dollars annually. WHISatWork will use wearable monitoring, predictive AI, and digital wellbeing dashboards to transform occupational health from reactive absence management to proactive, measurable workforce flourishing. People before productivity metrics always.

**WHISSeniors — Turning Ageing Into Opportunity **By 2050, two billion people will be over 60. WHISSeniors will deploy wearable falls detection, AI frailty assessment, robotic care companions, and digital social connection tools to support healthy ageing at scale — reducing hospital admissions and enabling millions more people to live independently, with dignity. Every older person is valued. Ageing is an opportunity, not a burden.

**WHISGreen — Health and Planet in Balance **Environmental health is human health. WHISGreen will use IoT monitoring, AI waste optimisation, and digital health-environment linkage tools to quantify and address the health impacts of air quality, water safety, and climate building the evidence base for policy change at every level.

“Social prescribing is one of the most powerful ideas in modern health. The evidence is overwhelming: when we address loneliness, financial anxiety, lack of purpose, and social disconnection — the health outcomes follow. The GSPA and WHISTech together have the opportunity to make social prescribing a universal right, not a postcode lottery. Digital technology is how we scale the human connection that makes it work.”

— Gareth Presch, CEO, WHIS & CEO, Global Social Prescribing Alliance (GSPA)

**GSPA — Social Prescribing for the World **The Global Social Prescribing Alliance is the world’s leading body advancing social prescribing across 30+ countries. WHISTech will provide the GSPA with AI-powered matching systems, digital link worker tools, cross-border data frameworks, and outcome measurement platforms transforming social prescribing from a promising local practice into a globally scalable health intervention. Social prescribing works because of trust between people. The WHISTech platform is designed to protect and strengthen that trust not erode it through algorithmic efficiency.

AI must augment human relationships, never replace them. The platform surfaces recommendations; a trained human makes every decision. Link workers retain full authority to override any AI recommendation unconditionally, without justification required. Override rights are a governance commitment, not a feature that can be turned off.

Built on Trust: The ISO Foundation

Technology serving 8 billion people must be trustworthy above all else. WHISTech’s alignment to ISO standards is not a compliance checkbox it is the architectural foundation on which every element of the platform is built. Each standard represents a covenant with the people WHISTech serves: a promise that their data is secure, their tools are safe, and their wellbeing not platform growth metrics is the measure of success.

Key standards include ISO/IEC 27001 for information security, ISO 82304-1 for digital health software safety, ISO 13131 for telehealth quality, ISO/IEC 42001 for ethical AI governance, ISO 45003 for psychological health and safety at work, ISO 13482 for personal care robot safety, ISO 15189 for medical laboratory quality, and ISO/IEC 25237 for health data privacy.

What Comes Next

WHISTech’s roadmap moves from establishing the digital foundation and launching AI pilots across five countries in Year 1, to reaching 25 countries by Year 3, to full deployment across 50+ countries serving 100 million people directly by Year 5. The word is reaching not scaling. Because the measure of success is never platform growth; it is always people reached.

The ultimate goal is a world where the accident of birth which country, which city, which family no longer determines the quality of health support a person receives. Where an 8-year-old in Bangladesh and an 8-year-old in Birmingham both have access to world-class mental health tools. Where a 75-year-old in rural Mexico and a 75-year-old in Tokyo both have the technology to age with independence and dignity.

“Technology alone does not transform health. People do when they are equipped with the right tools, supported by trusted frameworks, and empowered within their communities. WHISTech exists to make that possible, everywhere, for everyone.”

— Gareth Presch, CEO, WHIS & CEO, Global Social Prescribing Alliance (GSPA)

We will build with honesty and integrity. We will protect people’s data as if it were our own. We will never stop asking: is this in the best interest of society as a whole? And through all of it we will smile, and we will laugh, because this is good for the heart, the soul, and good for our health.
