🏃♂️ Dr. Hussain Al-Zubaidi to Speak a[t GSPA Global Event July 17th 2026
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Hussain Al-Zubaidi will be joining the **Global Social Prescribing Alliance (GSPA)**as a keynote speaker at our upcoming event on July 17th.
Dr. Al-Zubaidi’s story is one of transformation, perseverance, and a passion for integrating physical activity into healthcare. Just four years ago, his free time was spent on the sofa watching Netflix. Today, he is a highly accomplished athlete, having completed 30 marathons, three ultra-marathons, an Ironman 140.4 mile triathlon, and the Eco-Trail Morocco 70km desert race, where he recently finished in second place.
His journey into fitness and wellbeing began as a GP trainee when he was encouraged by a GP partner to attend a local parkrun. The 5km run was a wake-up call: “200 meters in, elderly people and people pushing buggies were passing me. I needed to improve my fitness,” he recalls. From that moment, running became central to his life, both personally and professionally.
Championing Health Through Running and Community
Dr. Al-Zubaidi has used his passion for running to inspire patients and colleagues alike. He signed his practice up for the Run Talk Run and Walk Talk Walk initiatives, programs that combine exercise with conversations about mental health, creating a safe and supportive environment. “It’s as simple as having a chat while running or walking, but the benefits have been enormous,” he explains.
This commitment led him to establish the Clarendon Lodge Medical Practice Fitness Club (CLMPFC), a social media community encouraging participants to share activity, set challenges like #pledge10000, and collectively achieve wellness goals. In-person events, such as fitness days featuring yoga, spin, salsa, and rugby taster sessions, have brought the community together while addressing health inequalities by creating accessible activities for underrepresented groups.
In January, Dr. Al-Zubaidi also launched the Leamington Lifestyle Clinic, offering group sessions on nutrition and physical activity, supporting patients to improve their health, boost confidence, and reduce medication use where possible.
National Impact and Recognition
Dr. Al-Zubaidi’s expertise extends beyond his practice. He regularly appears on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch, is a board advisor for Swim England, and contributes to the RCGP Active Practice Charter, advocating for physical activity as a cornerstone of wellbeing in primary care.
His work highlights the transformative potential of social prescribing, lifestyle interventions, and community engagement, making him a perfect voice for our GSPA event.
Join us on July 17th to hear Dr. Al-Zubaidi share his inspiring journey and insights on how physical activity, community, and social prescribing can create healthier, happier lives.
