Joint Statement from the Global Social Prescribing Alliance and the World Health Innovation Summit CIC (WHIS)
On the UK Government’s Launch of the £500m Better Futures Fund - HM Treasury Department for Culture, Media and Sport
We welcome today’s announcement of the £500 million Better Futures Fund — a landmark investment that affirms the UK Government’s commitment to building a fairer, healthier society through social impact and preventative innovation. As partners in promoting community-based, people-powered care, the Global Social Prescribing Alliance (GSPA)and World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) believe this fund is a pivotal opportunity to reshape how we support families, improve mental health, and address the social determinants of health at scale. Through our work in the UK and internationally, we have seen first-hand the power of social prescribing, place-based innovation, and co-designed health services to transform lives particularly when aligned with government policy, public sector leadership, and impact investment.
We stand ready to work with the government, local authorities, health systems, civil society, and the private sector to deliver measurable social and economic outcomes. Our established models — from WHISKids and WHISSeniors to digital care platforms and community listening labs are ready to scale and tailored to respond to the unique needs of families and communities across the UK.
Together, we can ensure that this fund delivers on its full promise: stronger families, healthier
communities, and a future grounded in dignity, inclusion, and prevention.
Let’s make it happen.
